Where Instinct Meets Data

Intro

tipp3, Austria's leading sports betting platform, needed to balance entertainment with data-rich decision-making. But its legacy experience was fragmented, inconsistent, and out of step with live sports. We rebuilt it from the ground up—new components, cleaner information architecture, and interactions engineered for speed.

Approach

We audited the full user journey across devices, mapping friction for both speed‑seeking casual bettors and stat‑hungry analysts. Our solution—an extension to Ace, our dedicated modular sports component system—improves navigation clarity, redefines the discovery of products, disciplines, and leagues, enhances live-stream implementation, and optimises the betting slip for speed and transparency. Combined with a tighter visual hierarchy that cuts cognitive load, engineering-led performance boosts, and a fully responsive architecture, the experience holds up seamlessly from the desk to the stands.

Built through engineering‑first collaboration, Ace brings consistency and speed with a visual language that balances the thrill of live sports against the precision of odds. We refined contrast and typography for instant readability, while motion principles—subtle animations—mirror the game's dynamism.

The result is a system that feels as fast and responsive as the action itself.

The redesign went beyond visuals. By rethinking the information architecture and component logic, we reduced the number of steps required to place a bet, streamlined the live betting flow, and made it easier for users to find the data they care about.

tipp3's ja/nein and alle7 bring a fresh twist to sports betting, turning every match into a high-stakes quiz or a shot at a life-changing win.

With ja/nein, you simply answer a set of questions with "yes" or "no". Get them all right and you win—but even a single wrong answer still pays out double your stake. It's a low-risk, high-fun format that keeps you in the game no matter what.

Early analysis from usage metrics indicates reduced friction in the betting flow with fewer clicks to action, improved confidence through clearer data presentation, and positive engagement signals from both casual and power users. Bounce rate has been reduced by 20% while engagement time is up +9.6% – and the active user base has grown 150 %.

Learnings

Esa, colleague at okay bueno

Sports betting platforms must serve two extremes—casual users wanting speed and entertainment, and analysts demanding depth and transparency. For tipp3, we bridged this by translating complex data into the language fans think in, making the platform feel like an ally whether you're chasing a quick win or dissecting every angle.
